Dries and Cutts on the Elk River in British Columbia with Spencer Schey, Kootenay Fly Shop

Episode 41 Published 4 years, 10 months ago
Description

Our destination is Fernie, BC, and the famed Elk River with expert fly angler and guide, Spencer Schey, Kootenay Fly Shop.  The Elk is a classic Cutthroat freestone stream deep in the heart of BC, known for drop-dead, gorgeous scenery, and miles and miles of pristine, wadable water.   Word has it, the dry fly fishing is so good that nymphing is a four-letter word.  And if you like to mix it up, the Bull Trout fishing is pretty darn spectacular as well.

Spencer covers the Elk from top to bottom and makes the case for why a 3x tippet and a non-slip loop knot is THE way to go for chasing "snotty" Cutts in gin clear water.  And with a nickname like Mountain Pig, Spencer is just the guide for off-the-beaten-path angling opportunities.  One thing's for sure, you'll get a kick out of Spencer!
