Episode 584 Published 1 year, 9 months ago
Description
Pianist and From the Top creator, Christopher O ' Riley, shares his thoughts about J.S. Bach's Well Tempered Clavier which he has just recorded for the Navona label. He's thought deeply about Bach for many years applying the Chinese concept of Ma to the cover art and considered what should happen in the space between the notes. In his conversation with Jim Cunningham Chris remembers working with Jack Sommers on a TV pilot and Fred Rogers, his time at Taylor Alderdice High School in Squirrel Hill and his jazz nights at Sonny Daye's Stage Door. He's happy at home with his Cate, a Boesendorfer piano, heading out to the Hollywood Bowl now and then and thinking about Bach which includes another new disc on the way with Matt Haimovitz.
