Episode Details

Welcome back to your Winning Word Of The Day on The Starting Line podcast with host Cole Taylor. In this episode, Cole tackles the deceptive nature of social media and its impact on our self-esteem. He warns against falling for the “highlight reel” mentality, where only the polished successes are shared, leaving out the struggles and realities most people face. Cole emphasizes the importance of recognizing social media for what it is—a curated showcase of highlights rather than a true reflection of everyone’s daily life. He encourages listeners to shift their focus from comparison to gratitude, suggesting that true joy comes from appreciating what you have rather than measuring yourself against others’ seemingly perfect lives.

In this inspiring discussion, Cole offers practical advice on how to combat the negative effects of social media by fostering a mindset of gratitude and self-acceptance. Discover how to reframe your perspective and find joy in your own journey, irrespective of what others may appear to have. This episode is a must-listen for anyone feeling overwhelmed or discouraged by the unrealistic standards often portrayed online.
