NYPD Officer Plots Husband's and teenager's Murder with Boyfriend | Case of Valerie Cincinelli
Season 4
Published 1Â year, 7Â months ago
Description
In this true crime story with Love and Murder: Heartbreak to Homicide, Ky delves into the shocking case of ex-NYPD officer Valerie Cincinelli. When Valerie's marriage to Isaiah Carvalho Jr. began to crumble, she didn't just seek a divorce; she plotted something far more insane. As Ky unravels the twisted tale, we learn how Valerie conspired with her boyfriend, John DeRuba, to hire a hitman to kill her estranged husband and John's teenage daughter.
In 2017, Valerie was a decorated officer with a seemingly perfect life. However, beneath the surface, her relationships were marred by domestic violence and restraining orders. As her second marriage fell apart, Valerie's paranoia about her husband wanting her pension led her to hatch a deadly plan. She solicited John to find a hitman, offering $10,000 for the job. The FBI, tipped off by John who was seeking a plea deal for his own arrest, orchestrated a sting operation to catch Valerie in the act.
Recorded conversations revealed Valerie's cold and calculated plans to stage the murders in such a way that law enforcement wouldn't suspect her. She even suggested killing Isaiah in a "ghetto" to avoid suspicion and running over John's daughter if the hitman wouldn't shoot her near her school. The FBI's elaborate setup, including staging Isaiah's fake death, ultimately led to Valerie's arrest.
Despite overwhelming evidence, including audio and video recordings, Valerie's defense claimed she was manipulated by John. She eventually pled guilty to obstruction of justice, leading to the dismissal of the murder-for-hire charges. Valerie was sentenced to 48 months in prison, with credit for 30 months already served. This lenient sentence left many, including Isaiah, fearing for their safety once she is released.
Join Ky as she explores the harrowing details of this case and questions the justice system's handling of such a dangerous individual. Share your thoughts on whether Valerie's sentence was sufficient.
