A Psalm

Psalm 11

In the Lord have I taken refuge; how then can you say to me,

“Fly away like a bird to the hilltop; For see how the wicked bend the bow and fit their arrows to the string, to shoot from ambush at the true of heart.

When the foundations are being destroyed, what can the righteous do?”

The Lord is in his holy temple; the Lord's throne is in heaven.

His eyes behold the inhabited world; his piercing eye weighs our worth.

The Lord weighs the righteous as well as the wicked, but those who delight in violence he abhors.

Upon the wicked he shall rain coals of fire and burning sulphur; a scorching wind shall be their lot.

For the Lord is righteous; he delights in righteous deeds; and the just shall see his face.

1 Corinthians 10:28-11:7

But if someone says to you, “This has been offered in sacrifice,” then do not eat it, for the sake of the one who informed you, and for the sake of conscience— I do not mean your conscience, but his. For why should my liberty be determined by someone else's conscience? If I partake with thankfulness, why am I denounced because of that for which I give thanks?

So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God. Give no offense to Jews or to Greeks or to the church of God, just as I try to please everyone in everything I do, not seeking my own advantage, but that of many, that they may be saved.

Be imitators of me, as I am of Christ.

Now I commend you because you remember me in everything and maintain the traditions even as I delivered them to you. But I want you to understand that the head of every man is Christ, the head of a wife is her husband, and the head of Christ is God. Every man who prays or prophesies with his head covered dishonors his head, but every wife who prays or prophesies with her head uncovered dishonors her head, since it is the same as if her head were shaven. For if a wife will not cover her head, then she should cut her hair short. But since it is disgraceful for a wife to cut off her hair or shave her head, let her cover her head. For a man ought not to cover his head, since he is the image and glory of God, but woman is the glory of man.
