Season 4 Episode 42
Climb by yourself if you have to.
“O LORD, you brought up my soul from Sheol, restored me to life from among those gone down to the Pit.” - Psalm 30:3
The author of this Psalm had been in a really bad place. Sheol was the place of the dead and the word has sometimes been translated as hell. The author felt like they had been in a deep pit and the people surrounding them were in the pit as well.
No matter how hopeless the situation may appear. There is a power within us and beyond us that is able to sustain us and lift us out of the pit of despair and hopelessness. We have to choose to embrace that power as we climb out.
We may have to leave some behind at least initially to save ourselves. Not everyone in the pit with us believes they can get out. Not everyone is willing to do what’s needed to make the climb.
That’s ok. Climb by yourself if you have to because you’re not really climbing alone. God is with you.
