According to a Gallup poll, 47% of Americans say they don’t belong to a church, synagogue or mosque. That's down from 50% just two years ago. And it's down from 70% in 1999. So what's behind this seemingly dramatic shift in religious affiliation? What does it mean for the next generation of Americans? And did the pandemic play a role?
