In a viral Whatsapp message that was verified by TODAY and the Straits Times, Dr David Lye, an infectious diseases expert, said the situation in SG is “likely more dangerous” than what it was just before Circuit Breaker in 2020. But why did this message come through social media first, before mainstream media? Elsewhere, at the Miss Universe pageant in Florida last weekend, Miss Singapore Bernadette Belle donned a cape that said “Stop Asian Hate”. Why? And what was the reaction?
