Season 4 Episode 30
It’s ok to want more
“May he grant you your heart's desire, and fulfill all your plans.” - Psalm 20:4
We don’t have to cut our hopes, dreams, and aspirations down to make them fit into the box of our current limitations. It’s ok for us to want more for ourselves, our families, our communities, and our world.
It’s ok to desire more as long as our desires are centered in gratitude for everything we do have and humility about how we achieve them. Desires arising from arrogance and bitterness are toxic. Desires arising out our hopes and loves are transformative.
In the scriptures, hopes, and dreams, and visions of better possibilities for ourselves and the world are seen as gift from God. In Acts Peter quotes the prophet Joel “In the last days, God says, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your young men will see visions, your old men will dream dreams.” (Acts 2:17)
When our hearts are right it’s ok to pursue their desires. It’s ok for us to want more. Peace be with you.
