He slept in bus stations, lived in disgusting poverty, and, at one point, was forced to sell his dog to get money.
He wanted to make it as an actor despite a disfigured face and speech impediment, so he wrote Rocky and refused to sell it until he was given the lead, even when offered a lot of money.
Sylvester Stallone constantly had long-term thinking and didn't accept the short-term win that would sacrifice the long-term.
