Polycystic ovary syndrome or PCOS is one of the most common causes of irregular periods in women. However, a less common but prevalent cause of irregular periods is Hypothalamic Amenorrhea or HA. Each condition shares similarities but also many differences to one another. As someone who was personally mis-diagnosed with PCOS, this is an issue near and dear to my heart. Once I was able to uncover the real root cause of my irregular cycles that's when I finally was able to recover my period and be on the way to recovering the many hormonal, metabolic and digestive symptoms that came with not having one for several years.
