Part 2: How Louisiana sparked a movement of red states leaving a bipartisan anti-voter fraud system
Description
Yesterday, we heard part 1 of NPR’s Miles Parks’ investigation into how the Electronic Registration Information Center, also known as ERIC, was torn apart by the far right, resulting in many states dropping out of the system. Today, Parks joins us for an update on this story and what he’s learned in the days since.
But first, we hear part 2 of his investigation. When we left off yesterday, we heard about Republican officials across multiple states joining the anti-ERIC campaign, many of whom were speaking out against the system on podcasts or other platforms. And where we pick up today, we learn how one woman in Pennsylvania teamed up with right-wing podcast host Cleeta Mitchell to promote the ERIC takedown.
