Dr. Mario Burns was born and raised in St, Louis, Missouri. He served six years of honorable service in the United States Air Force (1999-2005) as a Security Forces member and is a combat veteran having served tours in Saudi Arabia and Iraq. Mario received his Ph.D. in counselor education and supervision from the University of Texas at San Antonio. Mario is a Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor (LPC-S; Missouri & Tennessee), Certified Rehabilitative Counselor (CRC), and Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC). Mario currently works as a readjustment counselor with the VA Vet Center in Nashville Tennessee where he provides therapeutic counseling for military veterans and their families. His research interests include veteran’s studies, disability studies, counselor education, supervision, and issues related to race. Mario is the primary author of Race Metatheory (RMT) and is the Founder, Pastor, and President of Soul Life Ministries Corp.
