Ep. 434: The Mire of a Democracy

Ep. 434: The Mire of a Democracy

Published 4 years, 11 months ago
Description

Fisher Ames is virtually unknown to most Americans, but next to John  Randolph of Roanoke, he was perhaps the best orator in congressional  history. Ames hailed from Massachusetts and detested democracy and all  "leveling" ideas. He also favored secession. That alone makes him  interesting. I discuss one of his more important essays in this Episode  of The Brion McClanahan Show.
