God’s love is bigger.

Season 3 Episode 32

“The circumcised believers who had come with Peter were astonished that the gift of the Holy Spirit had been poured outeven on Gentiles” - Acts 10:45

It is appropriate for us to do what we believe is right. It is appropriate for us to follow and honor our customs and traditions particularly if this practices help keep us grounded and centered in God’s love.

Where we get into trouble is when we try to limit God’s love, when we try to limit who is worthy and who is not, when we try to define the boundaries of who is in and who is not.

God’s love is bigger than us. God pours God’s love out on the entire world. Young and old, male and female, rich and poor, people of different ethnicities and nationalities with different beliefs and customs are included in God’s love.

In this passage God’s spirit enabled the gift of communication and understanding. In others the gift of being able to forgive. In others joy, peace, patience and persistence. And finally faith, hope and above all others love.

God pours these blessings out and everyone who receives them is included.
