Episode Details

Supernatural Season 6, Episode 7, Family Matters recap 🧛 Cas gives Sam the world's most uncomfortable angel cavity search, the Campbells capture the Alpha Vampire (Rick Worthy), and the boys start asking who's really pulling Grandpa Samuel's strings, on Denim-wrapped Nightmares, a Supernatural rewatch podcast. (As for the Family Matters theme... Did I sing that?)

Picking up right after Dean punches Sam's lights out, Dean and Cas want answers about what's wrong with Sam, and Cas has a VERY hands-on way to get them. Dean then marches into the Campbell compound, where the family is hunting a nest and looking for the original vampire. They find him, and the Alpha's not the only one with a secret. Dean breaks into Samuel's office, Christian is still a dick, and a very familiar face shows up, demanding answers about Purgatory.

Episode Highlights:

• Cas's angel cavity search. More than two fingers. He was not gentle this time.
• Cas to Samuel: "My true form is the size of your Chrysler Building"
• Two blood splooges (#37 and #38), including a window splooge that needed the blood cannon
• Gwen covering for Dean
• The Alpha Vampire, a terrifying, superior, unbothered villain
• The Campbells' handy cage for the Alpha (who has one of those?)
• The first mention of Purgatory
• Samuel's betrayal (we were SO sad)
• A surprise boss at the end (Daddy's home)

In the lore segment, we dig into how to spot someone with no soul: the signs, the lack of empathy, and why holding a grudge might seem perfectly reasonable to them. (We may know a few people.)

Dean: "Since when do you give a crap about vampires?"
Crowley: "Since... what's today, Friday?"
