The Penn State Nittany Lions Football team closed spring camp on Saturday with the Blue-White Game in front of a smattering of fans. With high winds dominating the conversation in the stadium, what can we take away from the weekend performance? We're discussing the players that stood out, plus the interesting things that Penn State did that shaped the scrimmage on Saturday.

Penn State offensive and defensive scheme notes

While a good chunk of Saturday's game was vanilla on both sides of the football, Penn State still showed some interesting wrinkles. Both defensive coordinator Tom Allen and offensive coordinator Andy Kotelnicki gave us a glimpse of different aspects of their new schemes. We'll discuss the level of aggression Allen showed during the scrimmage and what Kotelnicki did and didn't do during the 48 minutes of game action.

We'll also discuss the situation at receiver and which players stood out during the team's passing plays. Did we get a sense of who will fill in for KeAndre Lambert-Smith among the team's wideouts? We'll discuss Trey Wallace's performance and that of Kaden Saunders and Liam Clifford.

Finally, we'll discuss the quarterbacks, Drew Allar's performance, and how to gauge what we learned about them during a windy day.

Penn State running back competition continues

Penn State's top running backs, Nick Singleton and Kaytron Allen, didn't play during the Blue-White game. That means we got an extended look at freshman Quinton Martin and redshirt freshman Cam Wallace. We'll discuss what those two players showed us on Saturday and how competitive the third running back competition will be this summer and fall.
