Season 3 Episode 16
“Jesus said, “Do not hold on to me, for I have not yet ascended to the Father….” - from John 20
Often when we think of letting go, we think exclusively about the bad things we need to let go of. Sometimes we also have to let go of the good as well.
For Mary Magdalene and Jesus’s first followers, there was nothing negative or toxic about their hopes, dreams and aspirations for Jesus. They had a positive vision, but it wasn’t the vision God had for them.
I have had to let go of a lot of good dreams. When I was younger I launched a business. I dreamed of its success and all the good I could do as a result. God brought me instead to a profession that worked well with ministry and allowed me to take care of my family and do some good.
I was heartbroken when my first wife asked for a divorce. There were a lot of ways that I had to learn and grow. I been married now for over 27 years. We raised a family and live a wonderful life.
Sometimes we have to let go of the good because better is coming.
