מענה לאלו ש"נטפלים" עם כל מיני שאלות בנוגע לענין ה"מבצעים". השאלה מהי התועלת ב"מבצע תפילין" כאשר פועלים על יהודי להניח תפילין באופן חד-פעמי, ומי יודע כיצד יתנהג מחר?! – היא שאלת "עם הארץ", שהרי ע"י הנחת תפילין אפי' באופן חד-פעמי יוצא הוא מהכלל ד"קרקפתא דלא מנח תפילין" (נוסף לזה שפעולת כל מצוה היא נצחית וכו')! עוד טוענים: כאשר ניגשים לאדם ושואלים אותו אם הוא יהודי ומתברר שהוא גוי – הרי מלבד שאין תועלת בדבר, ישנו גם ענין של בזיון וכו'?! הנה: אפי' אם האמת הי' כדבריהם – פשיטא שאין לדחות הצלת כו"כ מבנ"י מפני חשש זו. אבל באמת: א) בנוגע לענין הבזיון – הלואי הי' ה"טוען" מדבר אודות ה"מבצעים" באותו יחס של כבוד והערצה שמתייחס אליהם אותו גוי! ב) בנוגע לענין של "דברים בטלים": נוסף לזה שה"טוען" הנ"ל מדבר "דברים בטלים" ממש בעוד שבנדו"ד ה"ז מתוך כוונה רצוי', הרי באמת פעולה זו לא תלך לבטלה כי תהי' לה השפעה על הגוי. A response to those who come with all kinds of questions regarding the Mivtzaim – the question of what benefit there is in Mivtza Tefillin when one gets a Jew to put on Tefillin one time, and who knows what he will be doing tomorrow – only an am ha’aretz could ask such a question, because we know that by putting on tefillin even once, a Jew is removed from the category of “a skull that has never donned tefillin” and earns a portion in the World to Come (in addition to the fact that every mitzvah connects one to Hashem and has an eternal effect etc.) They also argue: When one asks someone if he’s Jewish and it turns out that’s he’s not Jewish – in that case, not only is there no benefit, but one also embarrass himself etc.? Even if this was true – it is obvious that saving many Jewish lives should not be pushed aside because of this concern. But really: (a) as to the embarrassment argument – if only the people making this argument had the degree of respect and admiration for Mivtzaim that this non-Jew has for the one asking him if he’s Jewish; (b) as to the argument of “idle words” – in addition to the fact that the one making this argument is actually speaking idle words, while the one asking someone if he’s Jewish is doing “idle words” with a good intention, the truth is that asking someone if he’s Jewish will not be in vain because it will have a positive influence on the non-Jew.
