[המשך] כאשר יהודי עוסק ב"מבצעים" ומדבר עם הזולת בדברים היוצאים מן הלב שנכנסים אל הלב ופועלים פעולתם, בהכרח שיפעלו פעולה מסויימת גם על (זה שהתברר כ) הגוי. ובפשטות: כאשר הגוי רואה שאדם שהי' יכול לעסוק בעניניו האישיים לוקח מזמנו ומתהלך ברחוב כדי לעשות טובה לאדם זר ללא שום תמורה – הרי זה יפעל אצלו שגם הוא ישתדל בעשיית טובה לזולת. וברור הדבר שכן יהי' בפועל – עפ"י הפי' במארז"ל "מחשבה טובה הקב"ה מצרפה למעשה" – שה' עוזר שמחשבה טובה של יהודי תבוא לידי מעשה. ועוד: מכיון ש"אין הקב"ה מקפח שכר כל ברי'", ושכרו האמיתי של יהודי זה שרצה להשפיע על האדם שיניח תפילין הוא – "שכר מצוה מצוה", הרי בודאי יסייע ה' שהגוי יתעניין אף הוא בטובת הזולת, ועד שבמשך הזמן זה יפעל על הגוי גם את תוכן מצות תפילין גופא – "שעבוד המוח והלב" שיסייע לו בקיום הז' מצוות דבני-נח.

[Continuation.] When a Jew goes on Mivtzoim and speaks from the heart, in which case his words enter the heart and have their effect, it is inevitable that he will also have an effect on someone who turned out to be a non-Jew: when the non-Jew sees that a person gives up of his time and goes in the street to help a stranger, without expecting anything in return – he will likewise be inspired to do good for others. This is clear from the teaching of our Sages, “The Holy One, blessed be He, attaches a good though to an action” – that is, the Jew’s positive thought will lead to action. Moreover: since “The Holy One, blessed be He, does not withhold the reward of any creature” – and, “The reward for a mitzvah is the mitzvah itself” – Hashem will certainly cause the non-Jew to likewise take an interest in the welfare of others, and with time, he will come to be influenced in the same vein as the mitzvah of tefillin itself – “the subjugation of the mind and the heart” to Hashem, which will help him fulfill his seven Noachide laws.
