In this week’s episode, I’m talking to the wonderful Jess Walton.

Jess is a 43 year old single, childfree woman who works as an assistant at an investment company in the city. She lives alone in south-east London.

Topics that Jess & I cover are:

  • how Jess ended up getting married on her 21st birthday as a way of escaping her chaotic and difficult home life;
  • the sudden passing of her Mum that sent her into a downward spiral;
  • how leaving her marriage was the beginning of her journey to rediscover herself;
  • how she developed Obsessive Compulsive Disorder as a way of dealing with the trauma from her past;
  • the disastrous 7 year relationship that led Jess down a path of self-destruction;
  • how Jess started to find the joy in her life again;
  • why she made the very intentional decision to be single;
  • the unusual circumstances under which she moved into the first flat she ever owned;
  • how she loves living alone and how her home is her sanctuary;
  • how Jess met a group of women via a lockdown Facebook Group, and how they have become her travel buddies;
  • why we don’t always need to be busy, and how it’s ok to slow down and do nothing sometimes;
  • how the single supplement when travelling is Jess’ biggest bugbear;
  • how being single does not define you.
