הרמב"ם כותב "צריך כל אדם שיראה עצמו כל השנה כולה, כאילו חציו זכאי וחציו חייב, וכן כל העולם . . עשה מצוה אחת הרי הכריע את עצמו והכריע את כל העולם כולו לכף זכות וגרם להן תשועה והצלה". א' יכול לטעון הרי ידע איניש בנפשי' שאינו "חציו זכאי", ואיך יכולה פעולה שלו להכריע את כל העולם? הרי זה יובן עפ"י האמור לעיל שכל רגע כשלעצמו (ולא משנה מה הי' בעבר) או כל דבר שאדם עושה כשלעצמו – ה"ז פרט בכוונה הכללית של כל הבריאה כולה, ובמילא נוגע כל פעולה שלו לכל העולם כולו! ואם טוען הרי נברא בכחות מדודים ואיך יצליח? והמענה ע"ז היא – "יציאת מצרים". אכן הוא נמצא במיצרים וגבולים, וכך רוצה הקב"ה, אבל כשם שאז גם הוציא ה' אלקינו אותנו משם, עד"ז ביציאת האדם ממצרים "בכל יום ויום" (בשעת קריאת-שמע) – שאי"ז עבודתו. האדם רק צריך להחליט שהוא רוצה, ואז יוציא אותו הקב"ה ממצרים.

The Rambam writes, “Every person must see himself all year round as equally balanced between merit and sin; and so, too, the entire world…If he performs one mitzvah, he tips his balance and that of the entire world to the side of merit and brings deliverance and salvation to himself and others.” One might argue that he knows that he is not “equally balanced,” and if so, how can his one deed tip the balance and affect the entire world? This can be understood based on the explanation earlier, that every single moment (no matter what one’s past may be) is a detail in the overall purpose of all of creation, and therefore, his every deed affects the entire world. And if he argues that he’s a limited being with limited abilities, and if so, how can he succeed? The answer lies in the Exodus from Egypt (which one relives every day during Kerias Shema): Although one may be in the constraints of Egypt and exile, that is how Hashem wanted it, and the same G-d who put him into this situation will be the One to take him out – “And Hashem our G-d took us out from there...” For his part, a person must only decide that he wants it, and then Hashem will do His part and take him out of Egypt.
