איתא בגמ' "איזוהי פרשה קטנה שכל גופי תורה תלוין בה בכל דרכיך דעהו וגו'", ובשו"ע או"ח ישנו סימן שלם בענין "כל מעשיך יהיו לשם שמים" ו"בכל דרכיך דעהו" – שכן צ"ל באכילה ושתי' ושינה וטיול וכו' [כמ"ש ברמב"ם בשיעור היומי]. וצ"ל מדוע לא מספיק המס"נ בשעת ק"ש ותפילה או לימוד התורה, ומדוע צ"ל "דעהו" בכל פרט ורגע של כל היום כולו של כל ימי חייו?! ויובן זה עפ"י מאחז"ל "לא ברא הקב"ה בעולמו דבר אחד לבטלה". וזה מובן אפי' לפשוט שבפשוטים שמבין ש"בעל-הבית" טוב הוא לא רק מי שבביתו לא חסר דבר, אלא שגם אין דבר מיותר – לכל דבר יש תכלית. ואם זה כך אצל בשר-ודם עאכו"כ שכ"ה אצל ה'. וא"כ מובן מדוע אסור שאפי' פרט א' בחייו ובזמנו וכו' יהי' "לבטלה" בלי לנצלו עבור התכלית – "לשמש את קונו". ואם ח"ו עובר רגע א' בלי לנצלו – לא רק שהפסיד את הרגע, אלא בזה "הזיק" כללות כוונת הבריאה (ר"ל)!

משיחת י"א ניסן ה'תשל"ג

The Gemara states: “Which is a small passage upon which all fundamentals of Torah are dependent? ‘Know Him in all your ways…’” Shulchan Aruch Orach Chaim contains an entire siman concerning “All your deeds being for the sake of Heaven” and “Knowing Him in all your ways” – in eating, drinking, sleeping, walking, etc. [as discussed in today’s Rambam]. But why it is not enough to have intent to give up one’s soul during Kerias Shema and davening or Torah study; why must one “know Him” in every aspect of life and every moment of the day, all the days of his life? This can be understood based on our Sages’ teaching, “The Holy One, blessed be He, did not create a single thing in His world for naught.” Even the simplest person understands that a good homemaker is one whose home not only has nothing lacking, but also nothing superfluous and unnecessary – everything must have a purpose. And if this applies to flesh and blood, how much more so when it comes to Hashem. Therefore, we can understand why it’s forbidden to allow even one detail or moment in one’s life to be “in vain,” without being utilized for a purpose – “to serve one’s Maker.” And if, chas v’shalom, one passes even a moment without utilizing it – not only has he lost that moment, but he has harmed the purpose of all of creation (Rachmana litzlan).
