That Love Podcast presents: The Substitute — A Satirical Monologue

Format/Genre: A razor-sharp satirical audio drama monologue where a stand-in speaker hijacks a political rant and turns it into something far more honest — and far more entertaining.

Logline: When the writer is too much of a coward to deliver his own politically charged words, his reluctant substitute Josh Matthews steps up to the mic — and promptly goes completely off script.

Episode Summary: Josh Matthews didn't ask for this. He's just the substitute — brought in to read another man's incendiary words because the actual writer couldn't face the crowd himself. But Josh has opinions of his own, and somewhere between the scripted outrage and the unfiltered commentary, something unexpectedly real begins to emerge. He roasts the writer, challenges the audience, and cuts through the noise with the kind of blunt honesty that only someone with nothing to lose can deliver. What starts as a political monologue becomes something far more compelling — a meditation on accountability, cowardice, and the desperate need for a country to simply do better. The Substitute came to read someone else's words. He ends up saying something entirely his own.
