He remembers the rodents who tried to stop his child from rising, and the decades he and his beloved spent imagining who their child could become. Now, standing at the threshold of this sacred moment, he sees it all clearly — the peace, the fulfillment, the love his child has finally found. He cannot hug them. He cannot walk beside them. But he can speak. And what he says is everything a child needs to carry into forever — that he is proud, that he has always been proud, and that his blessing goes with them every single step of the way.
