The Megillah states that “these days of Purim” are “remembered and performed,” that is, remembered and engraved in the soul in such a way that it “will never be abrogated,” and that is expressed in actual deed. Especially since it is still the night after Purim, and in matters of kodashim, “the night follows the day.” And in this case, it is the night of Purim itself for walled cities. In Divine service there is the service of “walled cities” and “unwalled cities,” each with its own advantage. For example, in the obligation of “becoming intoxicated to the point of not knowing” on Purim, there are those who fulfill it by sleeping…and those who fulfill it literally—and fortunate is their lot. May it be Hashem’s will that we go directly from the redemption of Purim to the true and complete Redemption.
