🔴 U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has delayed its decision on proposed spot Ether (ETH) exchange-traded funds (ETFs) by Hashdex and ARK 21Shares. This decision, announced on March 19, came just before the “third deadline,” with final decisions for both ETF applications expected by late May. Specifically, ARK 21Shares will face a final decision on May 24, while Hashdex’s application deadline is set for on or before May 30. Analysts are sceptical about the approval prospects for the eight currently proposed Ether ETFs, expressing concerns about the lack of engagement between the SEC and the issuers. 🔴 Genesis Agrees to Pay $21 Million Penalty to Settle SEC Charges
❗ Genesis Global Capital has agreed to pay a $21 million civil penalty to settle charges with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) over its involvement in the now-defunct Gemini Earn program. The settlement, formalized after a New York judge denied motions by Genesis and Gemini to stop the SEC case, follows bankruptcy filings by Genesis and its affiliates. The SEC will not receive any portion of the penalty until all other allowed claims are paid, as stated by the regulator.
