Ann Burke - Outspoken Mother of Dating Violence Victim

Season 1 Episode 9 Published 5 years, 2 months ago
Description

In September 2005, Ann Burke lost her daughter, when Lindsay Ann was murdered by her ex-boyfriend.

Lindsay Ann, who was 23 at the time, was similar to most victims of dating violence. Like my daughter, Kristin, she was not aware of the warning signs associated with dangerous relationships. Lindsay Ann's life was lost because she had never been informed.

Since 2005, Ann Burke has dedicated her life to teaching all she has learned about dating violence.

In July 2007, Ann, now a retired Health teacher living in Rhode Island, worked with legislators to pass into law the Lindsay Ann Burke Act. We talk about that and much more on this WHEN DATING HURTS Podcast.
