Every now and again, I meet wonderful people filled with passion and zest for life. Often, this translates into doing good for others and being fulfilled. In this episode of the Restaurant Rockstars Podcast, I speak with Rafael Martinez De Sanzo, better known to his friends as “Rafa”, a born and raised native Argentinian. A Gaucho is defined as a nomadic, colourful horseman and cowhand of the Argentine Pampas (grasslands). Gaucho’s have remained folk heros similar to the cowboy in western North America; and although they both work with cattle, here is where the similarity ends. We learn of the noble Gaucho’s love of the land and tradition that is untainted by economic gain. They care only for love of their animals and quality of the end product, no matter how long that takes.
