We’ve got some money in gold and silver, have some cash in the bank, but the majority of our savings is in IRA’s and 401k’s that we don’t need to touch for 5 or 6 years.  We’ve thought about moving some of this money into precious metals IRA’s.  We know it is not out of the system but with all things considered, is this better than nothing?
