Wolfe, Rebecca Ariel Porte, and Paige Sweet take up impinging mothers, absent fathers, and the variable affordances of literary and cinematic media, as they compare and interpret Haneke's film and the eponymous novel by Elfriede Jelinek from which it was adapted.
