Description

On this week's program, host Phil Tower welcomes Dr. Adam London, Ph.D., RS, DAAS, director of the Kent County Health Department. Phil and Dr. London use this opportunity for an in-depth discussion on numerous public health issues of concern and for general awareness. We discussed the dangers of radon gas as January is radon gas awareness month. We also learned that with respect to Covid cases, the XBB.1.5 variant now accounts for almost half of all new U.S. cases and about 40% of all new cases in Michigan. We also touched on a new report looking at the infant mortality rate for all of Kent County. Plus we talked about food safety within dining establishments in the county and February is heart health awareness month. Dr. London reminded us that cardiovascular disease is the largest cause of death in the U.S. and many of these deaths could be prevented by addressing lifestyle causes.
