On this week's show, host Phil Tower welcomes Cathy Cooper, Executive Director of The Meijer LPGA Classic. Cathy joins us for an update on the tournaments, including the enormous number of volunteers needed to make the event a success. The mission of the Meijer LPGA Classic for Simply Give is focused on feeding the hungry through Meijer’s Simply Give program that restocks the shelves of food pantries across the Midwest. Over the past eight years, the Meijer LPGA Classic for Simply Give has generated more than $8.65 million for food pantries in the communities it serves. Cathy told us the 2023 Volunteer Package costs $30 and includes numerous perks, including free tickets, to the event, and much more.

In part 2 of this week's program, Phil Tower welcomes Diane Brewer, CEO/Executive Director MET( Michigan Education Trust). Diane joined us to talk about the upcoming Fostering Futures fundraising dinner on April 14 at Frederik Meijer Gardens. The Fostering Futures Scholarship Trust Fund provides scholarships to students who have experienced foster care in Michigan at or after age 13. Students must also demonstrate financial need to qualify. In Michigan, there are approximately 10,000 children in the foster care system at any given time. Fostering Futures' fundraising efforts have totaled over $1,300,000; all of which have been awarded as scholarships in the year they were raised. More: Fostering Futures
