In this week's program host Phil Tower welcomes Peter Meijer, a newly announced Republican candidate for the United States Senate. Peter Meijer joins a field of more than a dozen candidates vying for a seat that’s been held by Democratic Senator Debbie Stabenow since 2001. Stabenow surprised many in January of this year by announcing her retirement, Setting the stage for what is shaping up to be a critical race here in Michigan. Not only critical for Michigan voters, but for the democratic party nationally. This is a crucial seat for Democrats in their effort to maintain the Senate, where they hold a 51-49 majority currently. Peter Meijer joins former U.S. Rep. Mike Rogers and former Detroit Police Chief James Craig in the Republican field, while the Democratic field includes led by U.S. Rep. Elissa Slotkin and actor Hill Harper.
