הוראה פשוטה מעצם הענין ד"יום הולדת" - יום שבו נולד האדם, עפמ"ש "אדם לעמל יולד": כאשר האדם טוען כיצד תובעים ממנו לוותר על טובתו האישית "ארויסגיין פון זיך", ולשנות הנהגה מסויימת שהורגל בה כו"כ שנים?! באה ההוראה מענין "יום הולדת": בכל בוקר, ועל פי תורת הבעש"ט - בכל רגע ורגע, נעשה האדם "ברי' חדשה" ונולד מחדש, וא"כ מובן שאין מה להתחשב עם מעמדו ומצבו הקודמת וכו' כי כל עניניו מתחילים מחדש. ומובן שביום הולדת עצמו מודגש הדבר ביתר שאת וביתר עז.

A simple lesson from a birthday – the day a person is born – based on the verse: “Man is born to toil”: When a person argues, how can he be expected to forego his personal benefit, and change a certain behavior he has been accustomed to for so many years – the answer comes from the idea of a “birthday”: Every morning, and according to the teaching of the Baal Shem Tov, every moment, a person is born anew and becomes a new creature; thus every day is a “birthday.” Therefore, it is clear that it doesn’t matter what his previous state was etc., because everything begins anew. And obviously this is particularly emphasized on the actual day of one’s birthday.
