What parts of Disneyland’s Big Thunder Mountain Railroad were borrowed from somewhere else?In this episode of Distory, we hop aboard Disneyland’s Big Thunder Mountain Railroad for a complete ride-through of the attraction from load to unload, analyzing each scene for the hidden history it holds. From the history of gas lamps to the bones of Dinosaur Gap and everything in between, this episode is as wild as it gets, including real remnants from America’s gold mines, missing smoke effects, exploding livestock, and a very plaintive opossum. Along the way, we find a few pieces from Mine Train Through Nature’s Wonderland, talk about some changing water, and solve a few mysteries we’d considered in previous episodes. After an Irish serenade by Kate and Kirk doing his best Don Knotts impression, we splash down at the end of the ride and say goodbye to Disneyland with a secret Walt tribute and a story about a dramatically torn Disney fence.
