DA Mike Schmidt’s Change of Heart, the Portland Police Union’s New Ballot Petition, and a Controversial Bottle Drop Location

Published 2 years, 2 months ago
Description

Today on City Cast Portland, we’re trying to make sense of why Multnomah County District Attorney Mike Schmidt is supporting a proposal to make possession of hard drugs a crime again, ultimately rolling back a key part of Measure 110, which Schmidt supported in his run for office. We’re also talking about how Portland’s police union is trying to weaken a civilian-run police oversight board that still hasn’t happened yet, and a potential bottle drop location coming to the St. Johns neighborhood. Joining host Claudia Meza on this Friday news roundup are City Cast director of digital strategy Bryan M. Vance and our very own producer, Giulia Fiaoni.
