Chop, Chop, Chop

Season 2 Episode 14

Success in life is founded upon attention to the small things rather than to the large things; to the every day things nearest to us rather than to the things that are remote and uncommon.

Booker T. Washington

There is nothing more important than having a dream. We must develop a positive vision for ourselves and for our futures. This vision should be so compelling that it inspires and energizes us.

Then we have to become fully grounded in the present. We have to learn to be attentive, to pay attention, to become consistent. We have to learn to be faithful in the small things.

One of my father’s favorite sayings was, “Repeated blows  fell the oak”. No one chops down a giant oak tree in one or two swings. It’s the consistent swinging of the ax… chop, chop, chop.

Eliminating 100 pounds took me 13 months. It was and is about being consistent day by day, meal by meal. It was about paying attention to what I was feeling physically and emotionally. It was about developing and maintaining the daily habits. Chop, chop, chop.

I’m Horace McMillon, and this has been 60 Seconds of Hope. Peace be with you.
