Tanya Hall - Heart Valve Disease Awareness Week
Description
Aired February 27, 2024.
New research released for Heart Valve Disease Awareness Week (February 27 to March 3) has revealed a concerning lack of awareness of the impact and symptoms of heart valve disease, with over a quarter (28%) of Australians having never heard of the condition.
Heart valve disease is a serious and common condition where one or more of the valves in the heart do not open or close properly, which can lead to problems with blood flow, and if left untreated, can lead to heart failure and stroke.
Leading charity Hearts4heart is proudly supporting free heart screening events in select hospitals across Victoria and New South Wales to increase awareness and start conversations about the disease.
To talk about it, Hearts4heart founder and CEO Tanya Hall joined Gippsland Perspective host David Braithwaite.
