The City’s New No-Go Zone, More Jara Drama, and Top Water Wasters

Published 2 years, 4 months ago
Description

Following the footsteps of the County’s controversial ban on people convicted of crimes from entering the Strip, the City is now proposing a similar ordinance around the Fremont Street Experience. It’s turned into a battle over the soul of spaces like FSE: Are these public forums for free speech, or are they commercial engines for our city coffers to be protected… at all costs? On today’s Friday news roundup, host Dayvid Figler talks about this issue with reporter Michael “MJ” Lyle of the Nevada Current and editor Lorraine Longhi from the Review-Journal. They also spill the tea on the surprising critique that Nevada Assembly Speaker Steve Yeager recently lobbed at embattled CCSD Superintendent Jesus Jara (and the District’s spicy reply). And finally, that list of the Valley’s top 100 water users is once again circulating — it’s no surprise who’s at the top of that list.
