- On Friday, Avalanche, a layer-1 blockchain, experienced a significant outage lasting over four hours due to a software bug. The interruption occurred because excessive communication, termed “gossip,” among validator nodes overloaded the network. Developers promptly released a software patch that disabled this problematic logic, allowing the network to resume block finalization four hours later. This incident mirrors a recent outage on the Solana blockchain and underscores the challenges faced by blockchain networks in maintaining uninterrupted operations. 🔥 Reddit, Inc. has disclosed in a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission here https://lnkd.in/dAvkD9qN that it has added Bitcoin and Ethereum to its balance sheet as part of its preparations to go public. The filing also revealed that Reddit has invested in Polygon to use as a form of payment for virtual goods.
