In this episode, Chris welcomes Dave from the “The Film Junkee” YouTube Channel to explore Batman: Ego. In Darwyn Cooke’s first project for DC Comics, he creates a deeply powerful character study of Bruce Wayne’s psyche set against his 3rd year as Batman, exploring Bruce’s motivations for his mission and self-loathing for his failures. After a suspect Batman is pursuing meets a tragic end, he returns to the Batcave, consumed by guilt. As dawn rises, the guilt drives him to pledge Batman's retirement. This causes his mind to divide against itself: his revenge-hungry "id", represented by Batman, confronts his rational "superego", represented by Bruce Wayne.
