What Is the Millennial Debate Really About? - Ep. 122

Published 7 years, 1 month ago
Description

What is the millennial debate is not about, and what it is about? Many interpreters frame the wrong question when they engage the millennial debate. I talked about how we got chapter breaks and how to avoid them, especially the Revelation 20 chapter break.  This helped to set up my main topic by explaining that Revelation 19:11–20:3 supports premillennialism, not amillennialism. The binding of Satan is situated in the occasion of the victory of Jesus at the eschatological battle in Rev 19. The binding of Satan is in the context of the second coming of Christ, not the first coming of Christ as amillennialism would have us to believe. The context of the millennial debate, then, should not begin at Rev 20:1; rather, it should begin back in Rev 19:11. Amillennialism disconnects Rev 20:1–6 from Rev 19:11–21. Rather, this should be seen as a unified, cohesive passage and not divorced from each other.
