🚨 U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission vs Ripple

❗ The February 20th deadline marks a crucial moment in a significant legal dispute concerning Ripple, a cryptocurrency. In July 2023, Ripple achieved a significant victory in the lawsuit; however, the court ruled that certain sales of XRP to institutions should have been registered with the SEC as investment contracts.

🔥 On February 5th, Judge Netburn granted the SEC’s motion to compel Ripple to provide certain documents. Ripple agreed to disclose financial statements and respond to the SEC’s inquiries by February 12th but requested an extension until February 20th to produce contracts for the sale of XRP to institutional buyers, hedge funds, and ODL customers from a three-year period before. Ripple cited the challenges in collecting and producing these documents by the previous deadline. This dispute’s resolution and the court’s ruling on regulatory measures could set a precedent for future cases involving digital assets beyond Ripple.

🚨 Trust Wallet- SWIFT

- Trust Wallet and Biconomy have collaborated to launch SWIFT, a smart-contract wallet. SWIFT aims to improve Web3 accessibility for 80 million users by simplifying setup, enhancing security with biometric Passkeys, and offering one-click transactions. ❌ Tornado Cash, a major crypto mixer, faces a year-long legal battle with U.S. authorities for allegedly enabling illicit financial activities for sanctioned groups. Co-founders Alexey Pertsev, Roman Storm, and Roman Semenov are seeking support through a fundraiser within their crypto community to fund their legal defence.
