Season 2 Episode 6
“Moses’ father-in-law replied, “What you are doing is not good. You and these people who come to you will only wear yourselves out. The work is too heavy for you; you cannot handle it alone” from Exodus 18
Moses is one of the greatest figures in all of human history. He is remembered as someone who gave up his comfort and privilege to stand up for the rights of his people. He is remembered as both liberator, and the giver of the law.
As great and capable as Moses was, it quickly became apparent that he could not do it alone. He was on the path burning himself out. He wouldn’t be a blessing to himself or the people he was leading if he didn’t get some help.
All of us need help. None of us no matter how capable, focused, and dedicated, we are, we cannot do it alone. We have to have the humility to recognize our limitations and the wisdom to surround ourselves with good people.
Long term, our missions can only be accomplished in partnership with capable people who are of high character. Both parts are equally important.
I’m Horace McMillon. And this has been “60 Seconds of Hope”.
Peace be with you.
