GRATEFULNESS

I am grateful for knowledge. Not that I have a lot, but that it’s available. I want to distinguish between political stuff or “news” and real knowledge. When I was a kid, we would have to research everything at the library or in encyclopedias. Now we can Google things and find a million sources to sift through and find the common elements

PRESIDENTS DAY

Quotes

Republicans

“The most terrifying words in the English language are: I’m from the government and I’m here to help.”

Ronald Reagan

Democrat

“My fellow Americans, ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country.”

John F. Kennedy

Abraham Lincoln is Claimed by Both Democrats and Republicans – The party’s ideologies completely flip-flopped from after the Civil War (after 1865) until the election of FDR in 1932. Republicans prior to the end of the Civil War would be considered Democrats today and vice versa.

So, Lincoln was a Republican, and Republicans today point to that as why he’s one of theirs. However, from an ideology perspective, he was very progressive and very Liberal. I love the fact that it is somewhat ambiguous, and everyone claims him.

“Government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the Earth.”

Abraham Lincoln
