Has it occurred to you why teachers’ unions are against school choice? I think I found the answer. New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy just signed a law. The teacher candidates don’t have to take a Basic Skills Test. Under the new law, a would- be teacher doesn’t need to take the test. The New Jersey Education Association said “the test is a barrier to entry for low- income New Jerseyans, especially if they already have a bachelor’s degree. At a time of acute educator shortages across the state, we need more teachers and they don’t have to pass a test to become a great teacher.” Is it any wonder why America’s education system is producing the lowest scores among all developed countries?
