Season 1 Episode 40
I am not going to die, I'm going home like a shooting star. “-Sojourner Truth
Sojourner Truth was born enslaved. She was beaten and mistreated. She was forced to marry a man she did not choose. Eventually, when her slave master reneged on his promise to free her, she freed herself and walked to freedom.
Once free, she did not remain in the shadows or live out her life quietly. She chose her own name, and went on to be one the century’s most renowned advocates for abolition and for women’s rights. She lived boldly and bravely.
Boldly and bravely she lived out her calling. She lived out her passion. She lived out of her convictions. Her confidence in the next life gave her the courage to live this one to the fullest.
She was a shooting star. May we have the same courage. Peace be with you.
