Be Strong and Be of Good Courage “For the Lord Shall Be with You” Scripture Reference: Joshua 1:1-9 (Focus Verses 6-9) v.1 Now after the death of Moses the servant of the Lord it came to pass, that the Lord spoke unto Joshua the son of Nun, Moses’ minister, saying. v.2 Moses my servant is dead; now therefore arise, go over this Jordan, thou, and all this people, unto the land which I do give to them, even to the children of Israel. Commentary: Moses had died before Joshua and the Israelites could go into the promised land. God had told Moses that he would not enter the promised land because he had failed to honor and obeyed Him. Joshua had been Moses’ assistant, but not now Joshua must take on the responsibility of leading the children of Israel into the Promised Land. God’s work needed to go on.
