The Venezuelan President, Nicolas Maduro, highlighted on Monday the success of the public consultation called by the National Assembly (NA) for the elaboration of the calendar for the presidential elections scheduled for 2024.

Furthermore, the President of the National Assembly, Jorge Rodriguez, announced that the proposed schedule for the 2024 presidential elections will be ready in a period of no more than 72 hours, and will be immediately submitted to the CNE. He also considered that the participation of the political parties and pre-candidates to the presidential elections strengthens the process of building an electoral schedule to serve as a suggestion to the National Electoral Council (CNE).

In Ecuador, the National Assembly holds the second debate on the Bill to increase the Value Added Tax from 12 to 15%, which was proposed by President Daniel Noboa to confront the Internal Armed Conflict, which is widely rejected by citizens and diverse political forces.

In this regard, social movements denounce what they call "total subordination of the Executive led by President Daniel Noboa to the interests of the United States" after Quito recently announced the shipment of arms to Washington in exchange for manufacturing money. 

In Chile, citizens are denouncing authorities for inaction regarding the fires in Valparaiso which have already left 123 dead.

Argentine Patagonia has been plagued since last week by a suffocating heat wave, caused by an atmospheric blockade that prevents cold fronts from the south from arriving and stagnates the warm air entering from Brazil.
